The complex topography and geography together with varied climatic patterns have enabled Langtang a unique spot in the Himalaya, with wide spectrum of vegetation type, include small areas of subtropical forest (below 1000 m), temperate oak and pine forests at mid-elevation, with alpine scrub and grasses giving way to bare rocks and snow.  Oaks, chir pine, maple, fir, blue pine, hemlock, spruce and various species of rhododendron make up the main forest species.

Langtang Valley Gosainkund trek at present listed as third popular adventure destinations of Nepal after Annapurna & Everest region. This wonderful country provides a strong habitat to some of the rare Himalayan wildlife the snow leopard and Red Pandas with exotic bird life as well.

Our drive ends at Syabrubesi village to commence our adventure towards Langtang valley, Langtang and Rasuwa district home of the hill tribe “Tamang” originally migrated from across the border in Tibet in the past hundred centuries.  Trek leads towards cooler region climbing high to enter the wide and beautiful Langtang valley after walking for days in the river gorge covered in beautiful alpine forest of pines and rhododendron trees with rare wildlife including Red Panda and various species of bird life.

Our next adventure leads towards holy Gosainkund Lake walking down and ups after Lama Hotel and Thulo (Upper) Syabrubesi and Singh Gompa heading higher up at Laurabina ridge with views of Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and as far to Annapurna range of mountains towards far west.

Finally ending the scenic and tough walking day in Gosainkund Lake at 4,381 m / 14,375ft high, a holy spot where Hindu and Buddhist pilgrim visits here for a dip in the icy lake with a belief that washes sin of a hundred lifetime the main pilgrimage hosted in the month of August as per Hindu Lunar calendar.  Surrounded by high mountains on the north and east, this lake where Trisuli River originates from this glacial ponds of Gosainkund.  It is believed to have originated from digging the soil with Trishul (holy 3-pointed sword) by lord Shiva after he drank poison from samudramanthan (sea- churning) and desperately wanted cold water to drink to dilute the poison, quenching the overwhelming heat of the poison. The large rock in the center of the lake is said to be the remains of a Shiva shrine and it is claimed channel carries water from the lake directly to the tank at the Kumbheshwar Temple in Patan around Kathmandu valley.
